NC Man Charged In Va. Bus Wreck That Killed 4

A North Carolina bus dispatcher is facing involuntary manslaughter charges in Virginia for his role in a bus crash that killed four passengers in May.

The Free Lance-Star of Fredericksburg reports that 40-year-old Zhao Jian Chen of Greensboro, N.C. was arrested on Friday.

Chen is the second Sky Express employee facing charges. The bus driver, Kin Yiu Cheung of New York, has also been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Court records show Cheung admitted to police that he fell asleep at the wheel when the low-fare bus from Greensboro, N.C., to New York City swerved off Interstate 95 about 30 miles north of Richmond, hit an embankment and overturned.

Caroline Commonwealth's Attorney Tony Spencer says Cheung told Chen he was too tired to drive, but Chen ordered him to anyway.

And to think; this happened in America. Maybe buses/trains/subways/planes should get a safety rating like the restaurants get a 'sanitary' rating, eh? Post it on the windows so the passengers will know BEFORE they board, what their chances are of arriving safely, to their destinations.

I'm not sure if I follow what you're saying. This story was clearly a case of a bus driver falling asleep at the wheel. Company's like this particular one move immigrants (usually illegal)so that these immigrants can be moved from the residential areas where they reside to the larger metropolitan areas where they are employmend. There is such a demand for these types of bus services that the companies often disregard the laws that govern how much time the drivers can drive before having to rest. This driver was forced to drive even when he was too tired to drive. Illegal immigrants in our country is a huge problem. Until our Government gets serious about removing these illegal immigrants from our country situations like this will continue to happen, unfortunately too often.

I'm saying, the bus's track record/history of accidents should be shown with a rating (being a bit cynical too). One accident, 'B'; second accident, 'C', and so forth.
