A New Hanover County Commissioner has posted bond after being arrested on a charge of failing to appear in court.
Brian Berger was released from the county jail Friday night. He was supposed to be in district court that morning to answer charges of violating a domestic violence protection order obtained by his ex-girlfriend, but never showed up.
Sheriff's deputies arrested him at his home around 90 minutes after his case was supposed to begin.
Berger was arrested last year and charged with assault in an incident involving the same woman, but the charges were dropped after she said he never physically harmed her.
A call to Berger's lawyer was not immediately returned Saturday. He's scheduled to be in court again on Tuesday.
