Deputies say a Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital Corpsman has been arrested and charged with assaulting her own child by biting her.
Bridgitte Westbrook was arrested Tuesday. She's accused of biting her five-year-old daughter on the bottom so hard it left an impression and a bruise for five days.
Westbrook is charged with assault on a child under 12 and misdemeanor child abuse.
Deputies say her defense was it is a cultural way to show affection.
