A family faces charges after authorities say they conspired to kidnap two children.
The Pitt County Sheriff's Office says it happened around 3:00 p.m. on Friday as Christine Cumming's two children - ages 6 and 8 - were coming home from school.
Julia and Ryan Grover are now each charged with two counts of second degree kidnapping in this case, and their father, Charles Grover, is charged with conspiracy.
Deputies say Christine Cummings was sick and had taken medicine, and didn't hear her two children trying to get into their home. They say her landlord called Charles Grover, the six-year-old's father. He in turn called his two children and told them to go pick up the kids.
Deputies say Julia and Ryan Grover asked their friend Heather Garris to drive them to the home, and say Garris agreed, taking her 8-month-old baby along with them. They say when the group arrived at Cumming's home, Garris went inside and the Grovers put the two children into her car and drove away with them, along with Garris' 8-month-old baby.
Christine Cummings calls the whole thing a big misunderstanding, and says she plans to tell court officials that if she's called to testify.
