A local mother was killed in a crash that police say was caused by a driver under the influence. The wreck also injured the woman's daughter and mother.
Sameer Patel, 20, of Goldsboro is facing several charges in Wilson, including involuntary manslaughter, driving while impaired, serious injury by vehicle and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Reports say Patel is accused of running a stop sign in Wilson Friday evening and colliding with a pick-up truck. Samantha Colvin, 48, died after the crash, according to reports, while her 67-year-old mother was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Colvin's 21-year-old daughter was treated at the hospital in Wilson.
Patel is scheduled for a first appearance Monday.
