Maysville Town Manager Retires After Arrest

The town manager of Maysville has retired after his arrest in a state investigation into falsification of records at the town's sewage plant.

Billy Ray Waddell was charged Friday with 22 criminal charges that include falsifying records and tampering with wastewater discharge samples. On Tuesday Trenton's wastewater treatment plant operator was arrested on similar charges.

The 61-year-old Waddell was arrested after an inspection of the town's plant by the Division of Water Quality. The state says during that inspection certain requested records were unavailable while others revealed inconsistencies in wastewater discharge monitoring.

The town board confirms that Waddell, who had been manager since 2003, has retired. Dale Gurganus-McCullough has been named interim town manager.

Waddell has a July 8th court appearance.
