Maximum Security Prison On Lockdown After Inmate Death

An inmate at a state prison east of Charlotte has been killed in a stabbing as a state maximum security prison is now locked down.

The Department of Correction says it happened around 1:30 p.m. at Lanesboro Correctional Institution in Anson County. They say there was a fight between several inmates and one was stabbed. That inmate later died at Anson Community Hospital. Another inmate was injured.

Both the SBI and the Anson County Sheriff's Office are investigating the death. The inmate's name has not yet been released.
