A Washington man will spend at least the next 26 years in prison after his guilty plea to multiple sex offenses, including rape.
Brett Leverton made the plea Thursday before Judge Wayland Sermons, Jr.
District Attorney Seth Edwards said the innocence of a child has been shattered and violated, and they decided the accept the plea so the victim would avoid the trauma of having to relive the abuse by coming to court.
The judge gave Leverton two sentences, two be served one after another. The maximum prison time he faces is nearly 33 years.
