A man driving down Highway 70 in James City flipped his SUV just past the railroad tracks and now sits in Craven County jail on multiple charges, according to Highway Patrol.
Eighteen-year-old Mark Parker-Stallings flipped his Ford Explorer on Highway 70 in James City around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to troopers. His vehicle then crashed into a guardrail.
After the trooper arrived on scene he suspected that the driver was under the influence of narcotics, but Parker-Stallings refused to take a blood test. The trooper then conducted field sobriety tests which the driver failed. Drug paraphernalia was also discovered inside the vehicle.
Parker-Stallings sustained minor cuts but refused treatment on site.
He is now being held at Craven County Jail and charged with driving while impaired, reckless driving and possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond is set at $1,000.
