A Wayne County man is charged with identity theft and related charges after the sheriff's office says he used his father's financial identifying information and also stole checks and debit and credit cards from another man.
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office charged 32-year-old Jason Taylor of Seven Springs with identity theft, obtaining property by false pretenses, financial card fraud and forgery.
The sheriff's office says Taylor stole personal checks, business checks, debit and credit cards that belonged to a man in Duplin County and used the financial cards and passed the checks at Wayne County businesses.
Deputies also say Taylor used his father's financial identifying information to secure financing for a new heat pump system.
Bond was set at $58,000.
