Man Charged With Misdemeanor After Raleigh College Lockdown

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Authorities have charged a man with threatening a woman after a sprawling community college south of Raleigh was locked down.

County sheriff's spokeswoman Phyllis Stephens says 27-year-old Franklin Delano Rawls Jr. was charged Tuesday with communicating threats, a misdemeanor.

Stephens says threats were made against a student at Wake Technical Community College. A woman told authorities she was afraid Rawls would come to campus, but it's not clear if he was ever at the school Tuesday. The lock down was lifted after deputies deemed the campus was safe.

Rawls was being held on $500 bond.
