Roger Edwards, 47, of Elm City, is facing attempted robbery charges after the incident Wednesday morning.

A witness inside the Wachovia bank on 2910 Sunset Ave. in Rocky Mount called police just before 10 a.m. after she saw a man waving a gun at a female victim. The victim turned out to be Edwards's mother.

The woman told police Edwards used force to have her remove money out of her bank account and give it to him. There were no injuries during the incident.

Roger was charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon and resisting a public officer.

He received a $35,000 bond and was transported to the Nash County Jail.
