Man Arrested After Convenience Store Robbery

A man accused of robbing a Jones County convenience store has been arrested and now faces criminal charges.

Joseph Taylor, 21, is charged with common law robbery and possession of stolen property. Officials say Taylor is accused of robbing the Handy Mart in Maysville Tuesday night.

Lawmen were able to make the arrest after officials say he was identified in the surveillance video.

Taylor is being held in the Jones County jail on $20,000 bail.

yeah, like don't let prisoners watch cable, or be able to work out everyday, acutally take their freedom away.. Make them have a manual labor job and work 8 to 10 hours a day. That might scare some people.

Your comment is the best one so far. Reminds me of the movie with Paul Newman, 'Cool Hand Luke'...they cracked rocks and dug fields in the hot sun all day long, under shotgun watch with little water or food. They returned to their cells, no A.C., ate a crappy meal, slept, and got the same thing the next day, and the next day, ...there you go...real punishment.

Maybe if there was MORE fear of the horrors of prison life, then more people would think twice before try something stupid like knocking off a convenience store.

Then just tell it like it is without the supposed cute anecdotal one-liners. The remark wasn't made to be a helpful warning; it was obviously intended to be humorous, which is isn't.

Um......ok. That boy needs to watch his back in prison because he is the young, weak type that seasoned prisoners like to prey upon.

Anonymous, unfortunately you may be right, but at least you are not making a big joke about it. I find it very repugnant that some people make jokes about prison rape, much as Autarchic did below, and they know that's what they did. These encrypted 'what you will get when you get to prison' cynical jokes are what ignorant people do when they don't have any real content to add to the story, but just think they are funny.

Although I agree he needs swift punishment for this ridiculous crime, I am very tired of some people making references to sexual abuse in the prison environment as an additional punishment. It's wrong and should be another charge against the individuals behind bars who commit this heinous act.

What the heck are you talking about? I'm not referring to myself; I responding to the lousy comment by Autarchic below. IMO, that commenter is the one who needs help.

He didn't have to. If you can read Autarchic's post below, and you don't 'get it'? then you must be him. What else could he mean by "They'll just love him when he gets to prison!"...hmmm? You know, and I know, exactly what he was implying, and it's not nice.

Yeah, and I want puppies and kittens to slide down from rainbows, but just like stopping prison sexual abuse... it's never gonna happen. The abuse that happens inside is sort of an unspoken deterrent, to make people not want to commit crimes. It's never gonna stop until they have no inmate to inmate contact, good luck with that happening.

A real bright boy, a tattoo on his neck, peach fuzz on his chin and no brains ought to keep him out of the military. They'll just love him when he gets to prison!
