Man Admits To Kidnapping Estranged Wife, Child At Gunpoint

A Tarboro man will spend the next 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to kidnapping his estranged wife and their young son at gunpoint.

Timothy Sutton made the guilty plea this week in Nash County and was sentenced to 20-25 years.

Sutton was arrested in May of last year after Kill Devil Hills police alerted Rocky Mount police that the 34-year-old woman and her two-year-old son were kidnapped from their Rocky Mount home. Sutton was accused of breaking into the home through a window. Once in Dare County the woman was able to escape and alert police.
