A Wilmington man faces up to five years in federal prison after admitting he didn't tell authorities or US Airways that he put a handgun and ammo in his checked luggage at the Jacksonville airport.

Jonathan Kolk pled guilty before a federal judge in Raleigh on Monday. The U.S. Attorney's Office says on February 3rd Kolk was arrested at Albert Ellis Airport. They say a .380 Ruger was found in four pieces, along with ammunition, in a toolbox that was part of the man's checked luggage.

The feds say Kolk was flying to Charlotte and New York on US Airways before getting on another carrier for Hong Kong and then to Manila.

The 51-year-old Kolk will be sentenced in August and faces up to five years imprisonment, a fine of up to $250,000.00, or both.
