Man Stabbed In Trailer Park Fight Over Dog

Morehead City Police say an argument between a homeless man and a homeowner over a dog led to a fight with a metal pipe and a knife and ended in a stabbing.

Police Major Bernette Morris says Jimmie Greer and Daniel Costello were arguing over a dog that went into Greer's yard in the Willis Trailer Park Tuesday evening around 8:05 p.m. That argument led to a physical fight. Major Morris says after Costello hit Greer in the head with a metal pipe, he stabbed Costello in the abdomen.

Greer was taken to the Carteret County Jail and held on $75,000 bond. The 58-year-old is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injuries.

51-year-old Daniel Costello is in serious condition at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville. Charges against him are pending.
