NEW INFO: Charges Brought Accidental Shooting That Killed Man In Wheelchair

Deputies have brought charges in an accidental shooting that killed a young man who was confined to a wheelchair.

27-year-old Daniel Griffin was charged today with involuntary manslaughter after Nash County deputies conferred with the district attorney.

Deputies say they were called to Griffin's home on Old Nash Road in Middlesex around 11:10 p.m. Wednesday night. There they found Taylor Samonia of Bailey dead from a gunshot wound to the left side.

Deputies say they learned Griffin was trying to reload a handgun when it accidentally went off and hit Samonia.

Griffin turned himself in to authorities and was released to the custody of his mother.
