A Morehead City man is now considered a habitual impaired driver after his conviction last week in Carteret County.
This makes the fourth DWI conviction for John Dancy.
District Attorney Scott Thomas says Atlantic Beach police stopped Dancy on a moped June 26th. The man's blood-alcohol level was .27, which is more than three times the legal limit.
A check of his criminal history showed the 43-year-old man has a DWI conviction in Surry County in 2007, Onslow County in 2009, and another in Carteret County from this past April.
Dancy was sent to prison for a minimum of 17 months, must pay $1,000 in court costs and attorney fees, while his driver's license was permanently revoked.
