Deputies say a man is accused of sexually assaulting a two-year-old child in Edgecombe County earlier this month.
Cirilo Torido-Bastida of Macclesfield is charged with two counts of forcible sex offense and assault inflicting serious bodily injury, while Chelsey Speight of Tarboro is charged as an accessory after the fact to those crimes.
Deputies say back on November 4th they got a call about the possible sexual assault. Originally, Speight, who relatives say was baby sitting the child, was charged with felony child abuse and misdemeanor child abuse. After injuries to the child were verified with further medical examinations, deputies say they were able bring the additional charges.
Torido-Bastida is held on a $855,000 bond, while Speight's bond was set at $355,000.
