A New Bern man is accused of raping a child who was known to him.
Gerald Griffith, Jr. was arrested Wednesday for the alleged offenses in Beaufort in 2008.
Carteret County deputies say the 41-year-old man is charged with first degree rape, and engaging in a sex offense with a child as well as other offenses. The victim was under the age of 13 according to deputies.
Griffith was jailed on a $100,000 bond and jail records show he bonded out Thursday.
