A loaded handgun, marijuana and hashish...that's what Lenoir County deputies say they found in the vehicle of a high school student today.
Deputies say they got a tip that Franklin Lanier had narcotics at North Lenoir High School today. They approached the 18-year-old in the student parking lot while he was walking to his pickup truck. After getting the okay to search the truck, deputies say they found the loaded .357 handgun, one ounce of marijuana, a pill bottle containing hashish, scales and cash.
Lanier is charged with possess schedule VI (marijuana) with the intent to sell and deliver, possess schedule I (hashish) with the intent to sell and deliver, possess a firearm upon educational property, carrying a concealed weapon, and maintaining a vehicle for narcotics.
A magistrate set Lanier's bond at $16,000.
