POLICE: Suspect In Kidnapping, Shooting "Armed & Dangerous"

Lawmen in Mount Olive say they have a suspect in Tuesday morning's kidnapping and subsequent shooting on Oliver Street.

Shontionne Darden is wanted for kidnapping, armed robbery, assault by pointing a gun and discharging a firearm into occupied property. Police say 26-year-old should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.

The home on Oliver Street was shot up after the residents told police they spotted a woman flagging down cars around 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, saying she had been kidnapped in Goldsboro. The homeowners brought the victim inside, but then went outside for a brief moment when a red vehicle drove up and the driver asked if they had seen a woman seeking help.

Police say the homeowners told the man they hadn't seen the woman and as they went back inside the driver opened fire, riddling the house with gunfire.

Authorities say Darden could be in the southern Wayne County or northern Duplin County area.

No matter what the circumstances were, the fact remains that someone's house was shot up and inoocent ppl, including children, could have been killed. What kind of ppl would read that and their only verbal reactions is comments like 'nconfederate', 'hysterical' and 'can't wait for the details' made??? SMH Only in a small southern town would racism and pure ignorance overshadow empathy. NO MATTER WHAT THE CIRCUMSTANCES, I REPEAT, INNOCENT PPL COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED AND THIS THUG NEEDS TO BE CAUGHT AND DEALT WITH. And sorry skino no excuse for anyone to shoot up a house. NONE. You can't blame that on the police or racism...

Those people were ready to help another in need, which is more than most do. All many would do is take phone pictures and videos, and never lift a hand to help that girl. There ARE still some caring people left in this dangerous world.

This is another example of a thug with an extensive criminal record (Felonies) that our Courts has released time and time again to prey on society. Our Judicial System is broken. Let's begin by eliminating these exorbitant paychecks that these judges and lawyers are receiving from tax dollars paid by the very people that are being victimized. "The people" obviously don't control the purse strings anymore.

Thanks to the family that even attempted to help the female-so often we are afraid to help someone because it may be a plot. I am thankful no one in the home was injured while trying to assist.

'hysterical'--this word implicates that because she was a woman, she was freaking out needlessly. please be cautious of the words you use because they carry a context. it appears chauvinistic, and frankly, is a word that one would see in the 1950s. and by the way, if someone riddled a house i was in with bullets, you better believe i would be freaking out.
