"John Doe" Charged In Deadly DWI Crash

A "John Doe" is in jail, charged in a deadly vehicle accident where troopers say he was driving drunk.

The Highway Patrol says the deadly crash happened around 4:00 p.m. Thursday in Martin County. Troopers say the driver of the 1999 Chevy Van was traveling east on Robert Taylor Road when he went across the center line, hit a ditch and overturned. We're told the passenger was partially thrown from the vehicle and suffered fatal head injuries.

The driver did not have identification, but was placed under arrest and charged with felony death by motor vehicle, driving without a license and DWI.

Troopers say due to identification difficulties they're still trying to positively identify both people in the van. Until then, names are not being released.
