A 20-year-old from Jacksonville is in jail for child abuse after a doctor's check-up revealed his baby was recovering from several broken ribs.
The Onslow County Sheriff's Office says Salvador Nunez was arrested, accused of squeezing his daughter when she was just 2-3 months old because she wouldn't stop crying.
Deputies say during a check-up in June, doctors discovered the child was healing from 6 rib fractures.Nunez is charged with felony child abuse inflicting serious injury and contributing to a juvenile being abuse and neglected. His first court appearance is Friday morning.
