Investigators: Father Slapped Son For Throwing Ball At Him Too Hard

A father is charged with child abuse after telling investigators he slapped his son, who is under one, because the child threw a ball at him too hard.

Onslow county Sheriff's deputies arrested 27-year-old Darrence Griffin Junior, a Marine at MCAS New River, Wednesday and charged him with contributing to the delinquency of juvenile by way of abuse and assault on a child under 12, and child abuse. All three charges are misdemeanors.

Investigators say Griffin slapped the child so hard that he left hand and finger imprints on his face.
