Volunteer fire departments on tight budgets sometimes need the help of the public to raise funds--although one department in the east says they're not going door to door to do it, but someone is, claiming to represent the department.
Township Six Volunteer Fire Department in Craven county are warning area residents of a scam, that's according to the New Bern Sun Journal. The Department Chief, told the paper a man is posing a member of the department and getting donations from residents they serve.
It happened Monday at Flanner's Beach Road, according to the paper.
The Fire Chief told the paper it's not their policy to go door-to-door asking for donations.
