Pitt County Homeless Man Arrested With Stolen Metal

A homeless man is in jail this Thanksgiving, after deputies say he tried to make some money off stolen metal.

The Pitt County Sheriff's Office arrested 52-year-old Bryan Venters Wednesday. He was arrested at EJE Recyling after people there determined the metal Venters was trying to sell could be stolen.
Detectives say the metal had been stolen over the last six months from Branch Jones of Ayden. They also believe Venters has already sold more than $30,000 worth of stolen metal.

Venters is in the Pitt County Detention Center charged with 12 counts of Felony Larceny; and 12 counts of Obtaining Property by False Pretense.

Venter's bond was set at $100,000.

Bryan should be thankful someone turned him in an not shot him in the head, this way he can ask for repentance and by the grace of God change.

I remember Bryan from junior and senior high school. This is NOT the good young man I knew. I can't imagine the events that would've brought him to this sad state of being.

Great Job "EJE" for paying attention. Maybe if all reclyclers paid attention to the people selling scrap metal then others would be caught that are doing it all over Pitt County. Pitt County Sheriff Department does a great job patrolling and arrested an individual they caught, but citizens can help by calling in any supicious activity they may see.

If PCSO was doing such a great job. They would have got him in the act and charged him back in May or June.

If EJE was doing such a good job they would have reported it back in May or June instead of purchasing from him all this time and not reporting it.
