Health Care Worker Accused Of Elder Exploitation

Deputies say a health care worker is accused of stealing more than $21,000 in property from her elderly client.

Angela Ward of Pikeville has been charged with felony exploitation of an elder person and felony obtaining property by false pretense.

Wayne County deputies say the elderly victim, who lives in the northwestern section of the county, told them they were missing property in excess of $21,000. Ward, who is a health care worker, was employed to come the the victim's home and assist them.

Deputies say some of the property has been recovered and the 46-year-old woman's bond was set at $4,000.
