HIGHWAY PATROL: No Charges Against Deputy In Crash

State troopers say there will be no charges against a deputy sheriff after he wrecked his cruiser Wednesday night.

Troopers say around 6:30 p.m., Onslow County deputy Edwin Romans had cleared investigating a wreck and went to make a u-turn near Highway 53 and Brians Woods Road. That's when the Highway Patrol says the deputy pulled out into the path of another vehicle and hit that car.

The other driver, Alaric Robinson was taken to the hospital just to be checked out and was later released.

Troopers say there was $9,000 worth of damage from the wreck.

No charges from Highway Patrol for that deputy, saying the investigation and consequences are being handled internally by the Sheriff's Office.
