NEW INFO: Grifton Man Arrested For Two Armed Robberies

A Grifton man has been arrested for two convenience store armed robberies that happened a half hour apart Monday morning.

Kinston police say Joseph Anderson was found at a home on Waverly Avenue around midnight.

Police say Anderson is responsible for holding up the Murphy Express on West Vernon Avenue and the Mallard Food Shop on Highway 11 North in Kinston.

He's in jail on a $501,000 secured bond.

A Grifton man is wanted for two convenience store robberies this morning, that happened within a half hour of each other.

Kinston police say they have two armed robbery warrants for Joseph Anderson, who may be driving a late model white Toyota Camry.

Police say this morning around 6:25 a.m. they got a call to the Murphy Express on West Vernon Avenue. The clerk told officers a man armed with a handgun stole an undetermined about of cash from the register.

Then at 6:52 a.m. the Mallard Food Shop on Highway 11 North was robbed with a man doing the same thing. In both cases the robber left in a white four door sedan.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the 24-year-old Anderson should notify your local police or call Lenoir County Crime Stoppers at 252-523-4444.
