Greenville police have charged two men with breaking into four vehicles over the past month.
Tawan Elam, 26, and Derrick Jenkins, 18, were arrested on Saturday for outstanding warrants. Police say a property crimes detective questioned the two about several other cases and determined Elam and Jenkins were responsible for four car break-ins in the South Memorial Drive/Greenville Blvd. corridor. The break-ins were reported between June 20 and July 4 at locations extending from Cracker Barrel to Sears on South Memorial Drive.
Elam and Jenkins are charged with four counts each of Breaking & Entering a Motor Vehicle. Elam received a $158,000 secured bond while Jenkins received a $20,000 secured bond. Both remained behind bars Wednesday.
