Former Volunteer Baseball Coach Charged With Improper Touching

A former volunteer baseball coach and a current gospel singer is accused of inappropriately touching some players who were between 11 and 15 years old at the time.

Nash County deputies say Ray Peace of Rocky Mount has been charged with seven counts of indecent liberties with a child. The 50-year-old man turned himself in on May 7th.

Peace was a volunteer baseball coach for the Rocky Mount City Baseball League. Deputies say they received information in December that Peace might have taken the indecent liberties with some former players and began an investigation.

The alleged offenses occurred between 1982 and 1996 or 1997 and involved two players, according to investigators.

A web site says Peace is also a vocalist and booking manager for "Right Turn", a Southern Gospel singing group from Nashville.

Peace was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
