A former school bookkeeper has been charged with embezzlement after deputies discovered missing money.
Christopher Chestnut of Goldsboro was arrested today for embezzlement.
Wayne County deputies say they received information October 24th that approximately $5,000 was taken from Brogden Middle School. Deputies say a school district auditor assisted them in their investigation.
The 25-year-old Chestnut had bond set at $10,000.
The school district says Chestnut resigned a day after the investigation began and had worked for them since March 2010.
