Police are investigating what is probably the first bank robbery of 2014 in Eastern Carolina.
Authorities say the Southern Bank on Church Street in Farmville was held up around 10:45 a.m.
Police, along with a sheriff's office K-9, are searching the area for the robber.
Chief Donnie Greene says the man handed a teller a note and no weapon was shown. He got away with an undisclosed amount of money. There were no customers in the bank at the time.
The robber is described as a black man, approximately 6'-3" tall, heavy set. He was wearing gray cargo pants, dark shoes, gloves and a fisherman's hat.
