NEW INFO: Farmville Bank Robbed

Police are investigating what is probably the first bank robbery of 2014 in Eastern Carolina.

Authorities say the Southern Bank on Church Street in Farmville was held up around 10:45 a.m.

Police, along with a sheriff's office K-9, are searching the area for the robber.

Chief Donnie Greene says the man handed a teller a note and no weapon was shown. He got away with an undisclosed amount of money. There were no customers in the bank at the time.

The robber is described as a black man, approximately 6'-3" tall, heavy set. He was wearing gray cargo pants, dark shoes, gloves and a fisherman's hat.

Anyone with information on the bank robbery should call Farmville police or CrimeStoppers at 252-758-7777.
