Employee Charged In Store Theft

A Beaufort County woman is accused of stealing from her employer.

Mary Sue McKinney of Pantego is charged with three counts of larceny by employee, along with possession of schedule II controlled substance.

Deputies say on Saturday they received a report of a theft at the Travel Store on Highway 264 East of Washington. The owner told them an employee removed money from the store on three different dates.

When arrested, deputies say McKinney was found with pills in her possession. Bond for the 40-year-old woman was set at $5,500.
