Thursday marks a sad start to the new year for one Pamlico County family who will say goodbye Thursday to their baby boy.
Pamlico County Sheriff Billy Sawyer said 8-month-old Brayden Potter died Saturday.
The sheriff's office says it is investigating the death of the child and deputies are currently awaiting autopsy reports to confirm the infant's cause of death.
Brayden's funeral will be held at 11 am Thursday at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel in Alliance.

An obituary says the baby was born in April and his parents are both from New Bern.
