Easier Way For New Bern Police To Track Stolen Items At Pawn Shops

New software will help New Bern Police better track items sold at local pawn shops.

Police in New Bern say as of now, they have to pick up reports from shops every Tuesday and manually enter exchanged goods into their systems. Officials have to check these items to see if any serial numbers match items reported stolen.

This new software, which will be available February first, will report all entered items to police automatically and free of charge.

Pawn shops have until May first to comply with the change.
