She probably thought he was some cool rapper-type. Wake up ladies. See any patterns?

If she was assaulted "off campus"...then why didn't it read Greenville women assaulted?

ECU PD does have extended jurisdiction in that area, but is not the primary agency to be called. ECU PD did help out looking for the suspect. ECU PD does not have state wide jurisdiction like Highway Patrol.

The ECU PD has a "territorial" jurisdiction around the campus area. Since ECU is state owned, and ECU PD is a state credited law enforcement agency, it has state-wide "actual" jurisdiction through the mutual aid agreement. Granted, they don't go outside of their patrol area, but you bet your bottom dollar that they can arrest you halfway across the state if they need to. It's not like they have to slam their breaks when chasing a criminal outside of their patrol area. I think people sometimes mix up jurisdiction and designated patrol area.

Why doesn't GPD have undercover cops posing as students walk the streets and try and catch some of these criminals ?

Probably the same reason they have a substation in West Greenville that is not being used. It would make to much sense....

Because they aren't batman and might end up becoming a victim as well. Cops don't walk around particularly looking to get jumped. They more or less patrol for presence and respond to calls. Neighborhood watch and gun owners are really the ones who need to step up their game. Common sense goes a long way; and I have enough common sense to realize that I don't walk anywhere alone without carrying gun in these days. The world is only going to get worse.

Ladies, you need to be especially careful at night. Guys around Greenville can't even be out at night alone or in groups without getting jumped, what makes you think you can do it? Whether we like it or not, being female does make us more vulnerable to violent crime. Use some sense!

Should we take up a collection to buy ECU students a clue? Notice a pattern? After midnight, walking alone, with no plan or means of self defense.

Guess you didn't know that campus cops have ETJ around the university.

Not only ETJ, but jurisdiction throughout the entire state as well. Same jurisdiction as a state trooper, Just not the exact same duties/methods.

If it's that bad you can't walk the streets there should be a curfew in place.

The "lol" at the end of your post does not fit the beginning of your post and is confusing. Are you seriously amused by this?

?? This event allegedly happened and was called in to police. WITN reported it and you chastise them? Would you rather them bury this story and blow some sunshine up your patootie instead?

WITN jumps to report any negative ECU news because they know it will get people to read or watch their news. Just like the Pittbull news reports (about time for another one of those also). Don't be a fool and think they are concerned.
