Drug Bust In Beaufort County Lands 7 People Behind Bars

Police say they busted a drug operation after complaints of drug activity at a home.

Beaufort County Sheriff's Office undercover officers say they bought crack from Mary Hardy at her home on Main Street in Edward. She's charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine. She has a $40,000 bond.

Deputies also arrested Jo Ann Story of Aurora, Karen Boyd of Greenville, David Stilley of Blounts Creek, Amelia Jenkins of Edward, 77-year old Whitford Miller of Oriental, and 18-year-old Michael Moore of Blounts Creek. All are charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Moore was also charged with possession of less than a half ounce of marijuana.

All I can say is that area is doomed. Wanna fail? Move there (Degree or NO Degree) and you FAIL, plain and simple. Hence the reason why I moved away right after graduation and never returned to live. Aurora will always be my hometown, but I'm not coming back, even in a box!!! Unless you come from money or know someone that knows someone, the outcome is the same; You will either be unemployed or underemployed and what I call the working poor. Hurricane Irene didn't make it any better either.

What some of you need to do is tend to your own business if you dont know whats going on. I know these people personally. No, I dont do drugs, but I also dont judge. Everyone has their own habits and addictions to conquer whether its cigarettes, alcohol. or drugs. I love Edward, I was born and raise there and there is no place like home. Every town or city has drug dealers/addicts there. Deal with it, its life. Your main focus should be on your family because Im pretty sure there are some "drugies" in it also. These people come from pretty decent families, some just fall down, but lend a hand instead of pointing a finger. So to all the negative people jump of the Durham Creek Bridge. If you dont know where it is then you have no business commenting anyway!!!

do you people really think tha law wants to win the drug war. there is to much money in arresting then and letting then go the next day the only way to win is to make it legal.and tax it. take the money from the dealers and let the goverment collect. they will never stop it. take a look at the counties that it is legal they have less crime and less addiction problems.there will allways be drugs

Eight years really? According to NC Public Offender Search, Mary Hardy was just released from prison on 11/23/2009. Sounds like someone is scared that they're next on the list!!!!

And you do understand that the the Penal system is commercialized now, so it is big money to be made by locking up as many people as possible. Unfortunately, it is the rural minorities that suffer the most.

Ride down to Edward and see what good people that try to keep their yard looking decent are surrounded by. You have to keep everything locked up or it walks away. You can't sell property in Edward, no matter what you are asking for it and you don't answer your door at night. There are so many lowlifes walking the street you are embarressed to ask friends to visit.
