Deputies Investigating Possible Murder Suicide

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is investigating a possible murder suicide after two teens were found dead inside a home.

Officers responded to a call at 221 Sunridge Lane in Pikeville around 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Deputies found 18-year-old Ryan Shelby unresponsive and slumped over at the dining room table with a gunshot wound to his head. They also found 19-year-old Raymond Samenki III unresponsive and lying on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound to his head.

A witness told deputies that he saw Samenski commit suicide after shooting Shelby.

Deputies found a 38 caliber revolver in Samenski's hand.

The bodies have been sent to the Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill for an autopsy.

Rest in peace Ryan. The whole group of us will miss you. What a senseless tragedy. I will keep Ryan and his family in my prayers and pray for you all to make it through this tragedy stronger. Do not worry about the rude posts. Try to forgive those that would post rude comments on this, think how terrible their life must be and how little love their life have to p ost those things. :(

It really sickens me that this child's mother has to get up here and defend her son from idiots that make judgements or comments that are pure evil. She should be able to read comments that lift her spirits and help her make it through this difficult time. People have all kinds of negative comments and speculations instead of just praying (if not that) not commenting at all. I pray that this mother & family of both young people find strength and peace that passes all understanding. I fault WITN for allowing such negative posts to be shown on their sites if it is not to encourage it should not be allowed to be posted.

I was in a touch football team with Ryan. Even though he was too young to play in the official games, he would practice with us, and cheer us on and helped and supported us. He was such a great player that we so wished he could play! He was a kind soul who impacted others by his presence.

I would just like to tell the families that even though tragedies like these go unanswered, God will be by your side and guide you. I lost my younger sister and my parents lost their baby a few years ago. If not for having faith in God's love for us, we would never have survived. He will help you get through this although it will take some time. Memories of your loved ones will eventually fill your hearts and make it easier. God bless you all.

I will tell you all that they were cousins living under the same roof. There was no fighting, altercation, bickering,....nothing. It is as advertised...a senseless murder/suicide as a result of a young man that had obvious issues. My son Ryan...the one @ the table...was down here trying to get his life moving forward. He had a job he liked.. he had started a bank account.. gotten his learner's permit.. a good group of friends that was growing bigger everyday. I'm proud of what he accomplished here with his life. Ryan's mother & I thank all that left POSITIVE responses...not the inflammatory BS that I've read earlier. There is a viewing scheduled for Ryan @ Howell's on 12/6/11 from 10-11...FYI.

I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to both families. I lost my daughter 3 years ago today and fully understand the grief you are feeling. I do not know nor want to know the circumstances as it is not the issue here. The issue is the tragic deaths of these two young people and those left behind. Please accept my heartfelt condolances. Both families will be in my prayers for a long time to come. I am so very sorry you must go through this. Be assured you are not alone. God Bless you all.
