At least five dogs were found dead this morning at a home down a dirt road in Beaufort County.

Animal Control Director Sandy Woolard tells WITN News that they know of five dead dogs found on Davis Lane, outside of Pinetown. Woolard says some of the dead dogs were on chains, while others were on pens on the property.

A Sheriff's Office investigator says they are in the early stages of the case and that multiple dead dogs were found on the property.

Animal control says they received a call from a citizen who was concerned about animals on the property. No one currently lives on the property and deputies are still trying to determine who owns the land.

So far no one has been arrested in the case.
