A registered sex offender is accused of being at an athletic event where children play recreational sports.
David Sides, Sr. of Chocowinity is charged with one count of sex offender on child premises. He turned himself in to a magistrate and was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
Beaufort County deputies say back in June 16th they got a report the 41-year-old Sides was at the athletic event in Belhaven.
Sides was convicted in Pitt County back in 1999 for two counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor.
