DEPUTIES: Puppy Parts Fed To Dogs, Couple Arrested

Deputies say they made a gruesome discovery Tuesday when they went to a Newport home with animal control officers.

Inside a storage building they found a dog eating the leg of an eight week old puppy that deputies say had previously been gutted by the residents. They also learned the puppy's internal organs were fed to other dogs. Deputies also found another dead dog in a cage.

Charged with cruelty to animals and failing to dispose of a deceased domesticated animal are Gina Alfano and Kevin Diers of East Branch Drive.

The puppy's remains were collected to determine if the trauma it suffered was before or after it died.

The two posted $25,000 bond and are expected to face a judge today.

I have adopted a pet from them at the beginning of 2011, and it just broke my heart to learn about this. They seemed to be the kind of people that really loves animals and cares about them. I consider my pets as my own children. Apparently I was wrong with this couple. I am grateful that I have rescued my dog from them. And I often think of his twin brother, Did they really adopt him out or not?

OMG that is horriable. I pray that they get the book thrown at them. And maybe they should do to them like they did to the puppy's.

Someone came onto their property and did this, set my parents up. SO all of you up here bad mouthing my family and wishing bad on them needs to stop because you all are effin clueless. My mom and dad do nothing but CARE and do GOOD for their animals, so you rednecks can shut it okay.

This is horrible. Whoever truly committed this crime deserves to be punished severely. This is America, not any other country & this is not the kind of behavior "normal" people do- no matter how the dogs died. Dogs and cats have attachments to humans & those people who harm those animals are questionable because they depend on US for protection.

What do you mean chickens and cows don't have feelings? Sorry but I think you're wrong? Ask any vegetarian. It's socially acceptable to eat these animals. It's not socially acceptable to eat cats and dogs or hamsters or gerbils or horses or anything that's cute and fuzzy. I wouldn't eat goat but some people do. I won't eat veal either.

Lets see now, the crazy who threaten to shoot up the Morehead VA Clinic got a $15,000 bond, armed robberies in Pitt Cty get $10,000 bonds, and this. Guess the Judge was a member of PETA.
