DEPUTIES: Man Uses Stolen Car To Ram Into Business

A Pollocksville man is accused of using a stolen car to ram into a business, making off with four stolen guns over the weekend. And lawmen say it's not the first time the man has used a stolen vehicle to bust his way into a business.

Jacob Riggs is facing multiple charges in two counties, including felony breaking and entering, felony larceny of firearms, felony possession of stolen firearms, felony larceny of a motor vehicle, flee to elude arrest, reckless driving and resisting officers.

Carteret County deputies say Riggs stole the vehicle in Jones County, and then used it to ram into the front door of the Croatan Trading Post on Highway 58. Inside they say Riggs stole three antique rifles and a handgun. Deputies say damage to the building is estimated at $4,000.

Jones County deputies spotted the vehicle and chased it until it ran into a ditch on Catfish Lake Road. The stolen guns were found inside, while Riggs was arrested later Saturday morning.

Deputies say Riggs was out on bond for doing the same thing in Onslow County back in July with another stolen vehicle.
