DEPUTIES: Attacker Meets Up With Shotgun During Home Invasion

Deputies say a man who forced his way into a home early Thursday morning was either shot or struck by a shotgun by a friend of the victim.

Tiwarda Perkins of Hamilton is charged with first degree burglary and assault by strangulation.

Lawmen were called to a home on Duggins Road in Hamilton around 12:45 Thursday morning.

They say when they arrived, they found Perkins lying in a yard with an injury to his head. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Deputies say a friend of the victim either grazed Perkins with a gunshot or hit him with the 12-gauge shotgun as Perkins tried to strangle the victim inside the home. A shotgun round was fired inside the home. Deputies report Perkins then ran out and collapsed in a neighbor's yard.

Perkins was not seriously hurt. He was taken from the hospital to the Sheriff's Office for booking.

Lawmen say Perkins and the victim were once in a relationship but not at the time of this incident.

The person who was defending this woman is to be commended for coming to her aid and rescue... But he needs to spend some time at the range. If you can't hit a target center-mass when firing a 12ga shotgun at it INSIDE a mobile home, you need to get some SERIOUS practice with a qualified instructor...

Maybe they didn't want to make a mess for the vic to clean up. Anyway, good defense.

I guess the neighbor didn't want to go to jail for someone who is wimpy enough to try to beat up on a woman. He might have met with something if he broke in my window too. My neighbor wouldn't have helped.

This brings a smile to my face. I don't think the shooter was committed to the shot, how do you just injure some one with a shot gun. If he tried my house the headline would have been a little different. I'm not sure if I would use a shot gun rifle pistol or maybe a good ol K-Bar.
