Criminal Tracking Database Unveiled In 6 Counties

A database that helps law enforcement officials fight crime will be rolled out to six Eastern Carolina counties this week.

Criminal Justice Law Enforcement Automated Data Services (CJ LEADS) will be put to work in Onslow, Carteret, Craven, Pamlico, Lenoir and Jones counties. This will be the first time the service is used in this part of the state.

The state says the program integrates data found within the state's various criminal justice applications. Its goal is to provide a comprehensive view of an offender through one application. In addition, it aims to provide an offender watch capability to alert criminal justice professionals when an offender has a change in status.
