The Craven County Sheriff's Department is investigating more than 20 car break-ins in one night. Deputies say vehicles were broken into Monday night in the Vanceboro area and all were unlocked.

Captain Joe Heckman says residents should keep valuables locked up and out of sight.

"It's quick cash, you can get a computer, you can get a lot of change. I mean everybody has change in their cars, high dollar sun glasses, stuff that has no record to it or no serial numbers, that can be sold quickly," said Capt. Heckman.

Heckman says you should have motion-sensor lights and park your cars near them so when someone approaches it will scare them off.
