Closing Arguments Today For Laurence Lovette

The trial for a man charged with killing a University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill student body president is coming to an end.

A judge scheduled closing arguments in the murder trial of Laurence Lovette for Monday morning.

Prosecutors say Lovette and a co-defendant already serving a life sentence after pleading guilty kidnapped Eve Carson from her Chapel Hill home in March 2008 and forced her to withdraw $1,400 with her bank card before shooting her and dumping her body in the street.

Carson was from Athens, Ga., and was getting ready to graduate.

If Lovette is convicted, he won't face the possibility of the death penalty because he was a minor at the time.

Prosecutors called dozens of witnesses over seven days, while Lovette's attorneys called no witnesses.
