A sex offender has been arrested for moving without notifying authorities and for setting up a fake Facebook account.
Carteret County sheriff's deputies arrested 50-year-old Tommy Jones for failing to comply with his sex offender registry requirements. Jones was placed on the sex offender registry in 2008 after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual battery in Tennessee. Detectives say Jones moved to Cedar Street in Morehead City from Newport without notifying the sheriff's office of his move and for using Facebook. Investigators say he set up a profile using a woman's name.
