NEW INFO: Car Break-In Suspect Facing Multiple Charges

A car break-in suspect rode his bike around several neighborhoods in Greenville, stealing things from unlocked cars.

Spencer Campbell, 23, of Greenville was booked into the Pitt County Detention Center Monday, facing ten charges of car break-in and two charges of larceny.

Greenville Police Spokeswoman Kristen Hunter says Campbell targeted unlocked cars in neighborhoods off Spring Forest Rd. Monday. Officers were able to link Campbell to the crimes because he had a lot of the items that were reported stolen. Witnesses also gave officers a good description of the thief, according to Hunter.

Hunter reminds people to always lock their car doors, saying 99% of car break-ins are of unlocked cars.
